Bob Larson. melodrama maven

I admit it. One of the reasons I keep an eye out for McExorcist Bob Larson is that the dang fool makes incredibly amusing and embarrassing claims and statements. Granted he also crosses the line into shameless tacky garbage, as my previous blog entries show, but dear old Bobbie's grandiose pretensions about himself sometimes make me laugh Particularly when he puff himself up in claims I feel are lies.

Case in point. His “ blog “ entry for Friday, a diss on Harry Potter ( no surprise) :

$$$$$$

Titled “ On Witchcraft Culture” ( yes that is an amusing term, considering what I do know about Wicca, but I digress) he says this:

In an effort to keep readers of my blogs abreast of significant spiritual events, I check out all kinds of web sites and blogs. Yesterday I came upon a well-read site with an entry entitled, "How Harry Potter shaped a generation." Written by a 20-something, the blog recounts the author's obsession with the boy wizard and J. K Rowling's seven books focused on spell casting and witchcraft as something that is neither objectionable nor evil. A few quotes caught my eye:

  • "Harry Potter is part of a rare subset of entertainment that defines a generation."

  • "When I got my hands on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I had been reading about Potter for seven years of my life!"

  • "It's not an exaggeration to say that Potter has impacted almost every major friendship in my life. It became a code word to test out new friendships."

  • "A generation who celebrated Harry Potter as a hobby is now old enough to turn those fandom-honed skills into careers."

  • "Seven years have passed since that final book, but my place in the Potter generation continues to shape my life for the better."

If, like me, you consider the Potter books to be diabolical and a clever way for Satan to mainstream witchcraft, then these comment are disturbing. What they point out is a cultural shift in thinking for an entire generation; in some ways, for those who grew up reading these book, they set the theological benchmark for how today's young adults think and act: 1) they have abandoned Christianity in droves, and 2) they have embraced an occult worldview, influenced in large measure by a boy with a wand casting spells. Satan must be somewhere in Hell laughing at how easy it was to change the belief system of millions of youth with just seven book (which, by the way have sold 450 million copies, the most of any book series in history). If you are reading Potter, stop. If you have read Potter, repent. "

$$$$$$$$$$$$

Pardon me for a minute while I compose myself after laughing.

(( Wipes tears from eyes)) Okay, let's start at the top.

In an effort to keep readers of my blogs abreast of significant spiritual events, I check out all kinds of web sites and blogs.”

I'm sure you do Bob. BTW Hello there!!! (( Waves)). Too bad in your “checking out” web sites and blogs you seem to have a shallow approach to your “ research”, omitting some details of the various subjects I've noted here in my blog. Also too bad that you don't do any research before posting a number of your “blog” entries, Bob. Your sloppiness makes it way too easy for me to mock you and point out your many errors.

You really should make yourself more of a challenge than that, old man. I'm almost embarrassed to admit how easy you are to refute.

Which he, as usual for him, did not provide the link to. Again no surprise.

http://boingboing.net/2014/07/23/how-harry-potter-shaped-a-gene.html

As usual for Bob he “ forgets” to mention the author's name and OC the complete contents of her blog.

https://twitter.com/CarolineSiede/with_replies

BTW I invite Ms. Siede to comment here or to contact me so I can post her comments with her permission.

 Here is her blog BTW:

http://introvertedchicagoan.tumblr.com/

The quotes, which he naturally took out of context, apply to any fandom. I've seen such approaches from Star Trek fans and comic book fans.

If, like me, you consider the Potter books to be diabolical and a clever way for Satan to mainstream witchcraft, then these comment are disturbing. What they point out is a cultural shift in thinking for an entire generation; “

Melodrama noted. As opposed to his contribution to his ghost written novel “ Dead Air” where he wrote the child sex scenes, right Bob? If you want to talk about “ diabolical” things, Bob, you are a fine hypocrite in the matter.

(( Warning: impending rant))

Diabolical” and deceptions are rampant in your exploitation area of “ Christianity” Bob. Particularly the liars.

Mike Warnke

Lauren Stratford

Bill Schnoebelen

John Todd

All liars, Bob. They lied about what they were. Damn near every televangelist is a liar and a con artist.

Wanna talk about “ diabolical” publications Bob? Ever seen the Jack Chick crap?

Lest I forget your own incursions into exploitation, the latest of which is your teenage exorcists” and your “ real exorcist” garbage.

I should note that nowhere in your many denunciations of Harry Potter have you ever mentioned you read any of the books.

As for the books “ mainstreaming witchcraft,” as a Wiccan/Pagan I know the books are not about Wicca-- and I think you damn well know it as well. This is a fantasy series and despite the claims of your trio of rapidly formerly teenage robots, none of the spells in the books or movies work or are part of any Wiccan or witch ritual.

You are just shamelessly milking this as part or your posturing act.

What they point out is a cultural shift in thinking for an entire generation; in some ways, for those who grew up reading these book, they set the theological benchmark for how today's young adults think and act: 1) they have abandoned Christianity in droves, and 2) they have embraced an occult worldview, influenced in large measure by a boy with a wand casting spells”

Melodrama noted. Also factually inaccurate, but then you ignore facts when it doesn't fit your exploitation. You did not, OC, cite any study that shows why young people have “ abandoned Christianity in droves” but I rather doubt Harry Potter is the sole cause of young people deciding not to be Christian. One guess is that people like you parading about in your unearned priest attire claiming half the world is demon possessed and in general acting like an ass might be an example of why they don't want to be Christians.

As for the “ occult worldview, influenced in large measure by a boy with a wand casting spells”, I chuckled at that one. For a guy who claims to be the “ foremost authority” on the occult, your simplistic and frankly incredibly ignorant claim doesn't say much for you. Why you “ forgot:” one of the more obvious areas of young adult occult involvement -- the Goth movement.

You're just embarrassing, Bob.

Satan must be somewhere in Hell laughing at how easy it was to change the belief system of millions of youth with just seven book (which, by the way have sold 450 million copies, the most of any book series in history). If you are reading Potter, stop. If you have read Potter, repent. “

This is a claim Larson seems to repeat lately, that he imagines so much about Satan and hell in regards to himself, like his not credible claim Satan has a wanted poster of him in Hell and that his “ Cross of Deliverance” is well known to demons in hell.

I should mention that two Christian blogs I know of speculate that the “demons” Larson casts out are coming from Larson and that some Satanists online have suggested Larson is in fact a Satanist out to discredit Christians with his exorcism con act.

Christians bashing Harry Potter is an easy act. Its a knee jerk reaction. In this case from a jerk.

Oh, and as for that “ witchcraft culture” thing. As a Pagan for over three decades I gotta ask;; WHAT CULTURE?

Its like when someone in a chat room years ago said she didn't like my “Wiccan lifestyle”. I almost broke out in a comedy bit about that one.

(( Shakes head))

я ржать

- Have you ever noticed the number of things Dad is capable of expressing just with the word "fuck"?
- Trying to say Dad's illiterate?
- No...
- I mean, he's a good ol' boy, so you know he talks to be understood, not just to sound good.
So, from him, a "fuck" can mean, "Holy shit, what did I just get myself into." Or, "Great pasta." Or "I'm gonna get that guy for that."
So why does a guy like that need to stay up all night writing when he could already express the entire range of human emotions with a single word?

The 2013-2014 Mideast Peace Talks (3)

Netanyahu wants something tangible before beginning peace talks as well.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Benjamin Netanyahu and John Kerry first met each other in the mid-’70s, in Boston, when Netanyahu (better known as Bibi) worked there as a management consultant. Years later, during Kerry’s frequent trips to Israel as a senator, the two would typically get together for catch-up dinners; it never seemed to bother them that their politics were so different. “There’s a sense [on Netanyahu’s part] that Kerry has an emotional commitment to Israel,” said Israeli Ambassador to the United States and longtime Bibi confidante Ron Dermer.

Another "quick update"

It's damn hot for this area. I know I won't get much sympathy from my online friends in other, truly hellish weather arenas.

My in-laws are here until tomorrow morning. We've hardly seen them this visit.

My siblings are doing okay, health-wise, but there's still much cause for concern. More on that later.

I'm doing okay, pain-wise. The Peripheral Neuropathy (PN) in my feet has pretty much stayed the same, which means it bothers me occasionally and hurts like hell often. I've still avoided using my cane (again) except for that long weekend in Philly last month.

My back pain, (the 11+ years old nerve injury,) has been giving me some trouble, but I'm hoping the folks at Stanford Pain Clinic will do something about that soon. I was supposed to call two different doctors, (regarding two different things,) but this week with my siblings and all means those calls get made next Monday.

My friend, deepseasiren, is still having legal troubles. If you know her, go to her page and write a letter to her. (Yes! An actual physical letter!)

Stay healthy and happy my Friends - Phil

Нашли откуда стрелял БУК?

EXACT location pinpointed of MH17 missile launch site

Journalist Roland Oliphant read my blog where I calculated the possible site of the missile launch. See the blog.

This is how that looked like:

The red line is the line of sight, where the smoke of the missile had been seen. The launch could have been anywhere near that line.
The colored lines is where tracks could be seen on the satellite images of July 20th.
The yellow circles is where these two come together and what would be excellent search areas for the exact location.

So Roland went out to have a look. The article he published can be found here. But the video is better.

Here are screenshots.

At the locations in the field there was nothing special to see, accept for the harvester that was also discovered in the satellite images:

But he looked around and found this location with burned and scorched earth:

(Just behind his ear on the left side, monument Saur Grave can be seen)
He also tweeted this photo with the article:

Runnign With "IT"

Did an open mic thing with Ann(without an E) at the Titirangi RSA - tuned the guitar in the toilet - haven't done that since we used to play the Globe - 3 decades ago. Ann(without an E) was in good voice. Had people up dancing which is a good sign.

Left Geena at Grandma's place at about 6.00 PM got home about 11.00 PM - I was meant to leave home at 3.00 PMish after school but when we got home Geena had a creative spurt and was acting out what she learnt in school - so I let her run with it - she had learnt timing signatures and was acting out how boring it must be to be a crochet in a bar with 3 rests.

We slept over at Mum's place - I went to bed at 1.00 AM to be woken by Geena t 6.00 AM - who had wet the bed and needed a bath - she is now sleeping in my bed and I am up.

Two things I really need to do is get to the Gym Three nights a week and get eight hours sleep - need to work on this have been getting chest discomfort - I have an enlarged heart, serious fever as a child so, I need to really take care of "it".

What tends to happen is one gets into the pattern of not sleeping well and it is hard to adjust - "The Marriage" was a real sleep killer and that fact that she is going to come back to NZ soon and likely unsettle things - through ignorance largely as is her csutom - weighs heavily on my mind.

This equine corpse is not yet a pulpy mush; must be beaten again.

Although, fittingly, this article is actually a post-mortem.

Why the Vivaldi tablet never came to market
All in all, Seigo found the effort to launch open hardware devices "amazingly stressful at times." Yet, asked if he would consider another effort, he replied, "Crazily enough, yes." He would currently be unable to finance it to the extent that he did MakePlayLive, but he would definitely like to try again. "Beyond all other things, I really hope that people see what we did as evidence that it is worth trying, rather than taking it as a lesson that it can't be done."

No subject

Because apparently I've trained myself to only get shit done if I post to-do lists on here, and not anywhere else....

Today:
- call insurance lady
- write some Tisquantum script for the next scenes
- do some video editing for Chinese School
- layout dad's website

Tonight:
- LAUNDRY
- update etaiko website
- fix "buy" link on chinacomics site
- keep working on Tisquantum

Weekend/Sunday:
- fanart draws: some samsteve for the bigbang, the 3-pager for the fanzine, maybe some daemons?
- finish this Tisquantum scene (finally, I feel like I've been working on this FOREVER, but it's finally coming together. And just in time, too.)
- Do a bunch of 1990 stuff: tidy up box, create more robust tagging system, make handout, make video, transfer Pat's links over,

Call Israel - Let's repurpose this Robyn song

So this is a kind of placeholder/call for help post. I want to rewrite the lyrics of Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend" to "Call Israel". Because I'm sick and tired of old and/or unimaginative slogans.

Here are the original lyrics. If you want to start/help me out, go ahead!

Call your girlfriend, i think it's time you talked
Give your reasons, say it's not her fault
But you just met somebody new

Tell her not to get upset
Second guessing everything, you said and done
And then when she gets upset tell her
How you never meant to hurt no one

You just tell her that the only way her heart will mend
Is when she learns to love again
And it won't make sense right now
Cause you're still her friend
and then you let her down easy

Call your girlfriend, i think its time you talk
Give your reasons, say it's not her fault
But you just met somebody new

Don't you tell her how I give you something
That you never even knew you missed
Don't you even try and explain
How it's so different when we kiss

You tell her that the only way her heart will mend
Is when she learns to love again
And it won't make sense right now
But you're still her friend and then you let her down easy

Call your girlfriend, it's time you had the talk
Give your reasons, say it's not her fault
But you just met somebody new
And now it's gonna be me and you

And you tell her that the only way her heart will mend
Is when she learns to love again
And it won't make sense right now
But you're still her friend and then you let her down easy

Call your girlfriend, it's time you had the talk
Give your reasons, say it's not her fault

Call your girlfriend, it's time you had the talk
Give your reasons, say it's not her fault
But you just met somebody new
