IHenry Payne / "No, that's the DEMOCRATS' FENCE" & The 'ic' factor

I came across this cartoon today, and I immediately noticed something I have to thank jonathankorman for having raised in his excellent post post over in talk_politics, that the term "Democrat" is a conservative tic. I did a highly unscientific survey of websites, and discovered "Democrat" is used on Fox News, The Washington Times, and a bit of a mixed bag for the New York Post (while the headers typically use "Democrat," the body of the reports favors "Democratic.") The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the Brooklyn Daily Eagle, never use "Democrat" and always use the correct term "Democratic."

A Global Consciousness

Collapse )

You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch.'― Edgar D. Mitchell
