Afraid of Russia?

I don't get why everyone is afraid of the Russians now. What I'm hearing now sounds like the shit I heard in the 70s and 80s in the US, and I don't like it. Now, the fear-mongering seems to be coming from the "Left" (what is called "left" in the US).
